About the Swiss list

Kept by SECO

The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) publishes the list of people, companies and organizations under the sanctions the Federal Council adopts under the Embargo Act. SECO's own search for it is called SESAM.

Close to the EU list, but not the same

Switzerland is not an EU member. It usually adopts EU sanctions, sometimes later or with differences, and it applies UN Security Council listings. A name can be on one list and not the other, which is why the same search checks both.

What we load

Every name spelling and alias in SECO's file, with the sanctions program, addresses and identity documents it records. Entries SECO marks as delisted are left out.

Searched at the same time

One search covers these and every other list we load, 14 in all.

Questions

No. Switzerland often follows EU sanctions, but it decides on each package itself, so the timing and the names can differ. OFACScreen loads both lists and searches them together, and each match shows which list it came from.
The highest-scoring matches on screen, each with its list, program and score, with no account needed. Nothing is kept. For a record of a single check, the PDF report is $9.99, one-time. A plan records every search and re-screens saved names daily, from $49 a month.
No. OFACScreen is an independent service. We load the list SECO publishes, and a result is a name match against it at the time of the search. It is not legal advice, and it does not replace the checks your own obligations require.
