Introducing OFACScreen: Why We Built It and What It Does
We built OFACScreen because the options for small and mid-size businesses aren't great. Enterprise compliance platforms cost tens of thousands per year. Treasury's free OFAC search covers its two OFAC lists and does have fuzzy matching, but the sensitivity slider ships at 100, meaning exact match only, and nothing in the interface tells you to move it. It covers no non-OFAC lists and gives you no audit trail. There's a big gap in the middle.
What OFACScreen Does
8 Lists, One Search
Every search checks OFAC SDN, OFAC Non-SDN, BIS Denied Persons, UN Security Council, EU Financial Sanctions, UK OFSI, Canada SEMA, and Swiss SECO. All lists update automatically every day.
Fuzzy Matching
Names and aliases are compared with Postgres trigram similarity, which scores how much two strings share at the character level and so catches transliterations, alternate spellings, typos, and swapped name order. Every result comes back with a confidence score so you can tell the difference between a strong match and a weak one.
Batch Screening
Upload a CSV of your customer database and screen thousands of names at once. Results come back as a downloadable report showing which names matched and at what confidence level.
REST API
For teams that want screening built into their own applications: onboarding flows, payment processing, loan origination, whatever. The API returns JSON with match results and scores.
Continuous Monitoring
Add customers to your monitoring list and OFACScreen re-screens them automatically whenever the underlying sanctions lists change. You get notified when a new match appears.
Audit Logs
Every search is logged with the query, timestamp, lists checked, and results. Export logs as CSV for your compliance files or examiner requests.
Pricing
Plans start at $49/month. No annual contracts required (though yearly billing saves about 30%). You can try it without any of that. The free tier needs no signup: 25 searches per day per IP, all 8 lists, the top-scoring matches on screen with the true total stated beside them, and it does not expire. A one-off PDF report, which carries every match the search found and comes back as a clearance certificate when a search finds no matches, is $9.99 and needs no account or subscription either.
